Greater Victoria Cycling Coalition - Moving Victoria forward in cycles

I 'bike to work' every work day and have done for the last thirty years. Is everybody just going to now accept the closure of the Railway side of this Bridge to cycle and foot traffic instead of closing the vehicle side of this bridge as well? Both sides of the bridge were built at the same time, using exactly the same construction technology. They are likely either equally safe now or equally unsafe. How is it that the Railway side of this bridge alone is now so unsafe that it can no longer support even foot traffic while the side used by thousands of motor vehicles a day is still safe enough for that? Can we all ask for a serious engineering justification for this action? Or, does it only inconvenience pedestrians and cyclists because they don't really count while the City makes a political point at our expense?
