Picnic at East Sooke Regional Park. Scroll for panoramic view.
9 riders departed Selkirk station on a sunny but windy Sunday morning. 3 more joined us at Six Mile Road. We proceeded at a steady pace with occassional breaks to Rocky Point Road where one of the group turned back due to other commitments and we left the Galloping Goose for more interesting topography. The remaining 11 riders tackled the "rolling countryside" with great gusto arriving at East Sooke Regional Park at about 1 pm. Fortunately the strong wind was blowing offshore so we enjoyed our picnic lunch without the extra crunch of sand in our sandwiches. Then it was back on the road, rejoining the Galloping Goose at Roche Cove to Victoria arriving for a "debriefing" (AKA cold beverage) at 5 pm. Legs and butts were a bit the worse for wear but I think it would be fair to say that everyone enjoyed the trip. Just a shade short of 85K.
