8 riders left Selkirk Station for the ride to Brentwood Bay. 2 more joined at The Switch Bridge. We had a nice easy ride arriving with plenty of time to enjoy the harbour. 6 more who had driven up joined met us there so we were 16 when we made the crossing. The ride was a bit hillier on the other side but we made it to the Kinsol in time for lunch. It was amazing how many people were there. The Times Colonist articles and pictures on Friday must have inspired them. A spouse joined us for the ride back. Some of the group split off to pay a visit to the Merridale Cidery for a refreshing apple juice beverage ; ) while others managed to make the 4:10 ferry back to Brentwood Bay as it was running half an hour late. The rest of us regrouped in the sunshine at Mil Bay and enjoyed the antics of a couple of Kinfishers. We eventually caught the ferry about 6:00, getting us to Brentwood Bay at 6:30. We had a glorious early evening blast back to Victoria along the Interurban Trail, probably going faster than on the way up in the morning. It is amazing where all that energy came from after all the hills and the many kilometers already behind us. We arrived back in Victoria about 7:30.
Thanks everyone who attended! What a great turnout. Nice to see so many people showing up for a longer and more challenging ride like this one!
