The GVCC's first overnight camping ride last weekendwas a great success. 6 hardy souls departed Selkirk Station soon after 10 am Saturday picking up a 7th at the Switch Bridge. We arrived at Sooke Potholes about 4 hours later none the worse for wear though a bit overheated and hungry. The advance party with the car support that had taken our heavier supplies was already there. After a snack it was off to the river to swim or paddle. The fire ban had been lifted late last week so we were able to enjoy a fire after our barbequed steak dinner with garlic mashed potatoes, root vegetable salad and fruit crisp dessert accompanied by refreshing beverages.
After a hearty breakfast the next morning we reversed course making it to Six Mile House Pub for lunch and tea - iced.
Special thanks and recognition to Six Mile House Pub for their bike friendly policy.
